About our shed
About Us
The South Canberra Veterans Shed is for both male and female Veterans, First Responders and their families. The SCVS shed aims to maintain an environment for members where concerns, past trauma, health and welfare issues can be discussed with other members who have empathy through similar life experiences. SCVS provides members with a place to go, to get out of the house, to meet other people with similar interests in a non-judgemental welcoming environment.
Members are encouraged to develop, redevelop or learn new skills which will enhance their self-esteem and in turn provide a positive impact upon their lives, family and friends and support the community
Shed Activities
Wood carving, wood work, welding, metal work, sewing, craft, mechanical, socialisation.

Positive impacts
The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the national service provider supporting more than 1,200 Men’s, Women’s and Community Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.
AMSA was established in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.
