About our shed
About Us
The Nepean Men’s shed was incorporated in December 2010 as the “Lower Mountains Men’s Shed” and during the following 4 years we were unable to find suitable premises to call our own. The search for a new shed was extensive.
A while after changing our name in 2014 to the “ Nepean Men’s Shed and made welcome by the Penrith City Council the local N.R.O. better known as the “Nepean Rescue Squad” offered us their shed which they no longer use due to government changes incorporating the rescue services into the NSW Fire brigade.
Since this time the premises have remained unused. The Shed is a 900 Sq metre building situated on 1 acre of land on 18 Simeon Rd., Orchard Hills, just off the Northern Road near the M4 . Title has now been transferred to the Nepean Men’s Shed so now the hard work starts to prepare the shed ready for our use.
Unfortunately the shed was never quite finished and there is a lot of work of all descriptions still to be done by willing hands. And in helping, friendships are established and skills enhanced. Most members have some skills that they are only too willing to pass along.
Shed Activities
We provide social and manual activities that all men can do while making items for sale or donation, using skills not learnt in previous employment. Health matters are discussed and guidance given when asked.

Positive impacts
The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the national service provider supporting more than 1,200 Men’s, Women’s and Community Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.
AMSA was established in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.
