About our shed
About Us
Millicent Men's Shed caters for men of all ages. We are an all inclusive shed whose stated purpose is to help men in the community to be active members of that community, to prevent social isolation and to promote men's health through informed discussion, personal interest and the pursuit of involvement in activities. We have a varied membership with interests in woodworking, metal work, cooking, conversing and many other pastimes. Guests are welcome at our Shed anytime, to peruse our activities and consider becoming one of us. The Shed works on members' projects, private commissions and community projects. We have built everything, from egg cups to hen houses, from jewellery boxes to stables. The extent of work our members do is limited only by their imagination. We now incorporate the Limestone Coast Model Railway Group who have become members and are housed in one of our sheds, where they are building their home layout. Recently, we also completed a large extension to our Shed to provide a metal workshop facility.
Shed Activities
The Shed's activities include hands-on projects, men's health sessions, information events, outings and community events. The Shed has a woodworking workshop with a comprehensive inventory of tools and equipment. A fully outfitted kitchen provides for the lover of cooking and for our many social events. The Shed abuts the community garden, providing repast for the green fingered members. The last Thursday of every month is our barbecue lunch day.

Positive impacts
The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the national service provider supporting more than 1,200 Men’s, Women’s and Community Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.
AMSA was established in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.
