About our shed
About Us
The Mareeba Men’s Shed was established in October 2010 by three members of the Baptist Church which organisation auspices this Shed including Insurance. We have had as many as 52 financial members and as few as 25 particularly during covid. As at Nov 2022 there are 35 financial members of whom approximately 25 are consistently active.
We have four main events which gain us revenue.
1: The local Rodeo at which we sell pies and soft drinks, which on some occasions is only just economical.
2: a recently established a large Music Festival called “Savannah in the Round” at which we are responsible for keeping the grounds clean of debris including recyclable cans and bottles etc which is a lot of work but quite lucrative due to cashing in those recyclables.
Shed Activities

Positive impacts
The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the national service provider supporting more than 1,200 Men’s, Women’s and Community Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.
AMSA was established in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.
