About Us
Meadowlands Men’s Shed Inc. was initiated as an outreach by the local Church of the Nazarene and encouraged by the church, the Shed from small beginnings in September 2011 has grown in size, resources and membership.
Meadowlands Men’s Shed Inc. is a relatively small group of about 20 members. There are both advantages and disadvantages to this small number. The very real advantage is the warm, caring and friendly atmosphere. Some of our men have moved from larger Sheds and remark how much more comfortable and welcomed they feel at Meadowlands.
The Shed’s primary concern and the reason for its existence in the first place is the health of the members. We aim to provide an atmosphere where men can be creative and productive. In this environment men are able to discuss health issues and support each other.
All Men’s Sheds develop their own special ‘flavour’ and engage in specific ‘industry’ to support the Shed’s ethos. Meadowlands has two streams: Woodwork and Mechanical.
Presently the more significant of these is woodworking. Over these last fourteen years we have been able to build up a workshop with an excellent range of equipment. Some of this equipment has been obtained with grants, some donated and even more purchased with Shed funds.
Naturally it’s not all work - it has been said that the most important piece of equipment we have is the smoko table around which we gather (often for an extended time) over a very satisfying tray of eats.
Shed Activities

Positive impacts
The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the national service provider supporting more than 1,200 Men’s, Women’s and Community Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.
AMSA was established in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.
