About our shed

About Us

Bentmoor Community Men’s Shed provides a local, informal venue where the men of the community can spend time together.

It is a place for men, where social activity is maintained and friendships formed. We provide men with new opportunities for interaction in their post-work lives, in an active workshop, participating in community projects.

The shed offers a place where men from any cultural backgrounds with any level of experience can come to share their skills or learn newones, working in a relaxed environment

Our Mission

To provide a forum to advance the health and well-being of our members by providing a safe and happy environment where skilled and unskilled men can, in the company of other men:

  • Pursue hobbies, pastimes, and interests;
  • Learn new skills, practice, and pass on old skills;
  • learn about their own and other men’s health and well-being; and
  • by their efforts, contribute to their families, their friends, the Shed and their community

Shed Activities

shed is as diverse as the interests of its members. Sheds develop and changes to meet the needs of its members.

As a member, your contribution is your story and experience in any field. Your participation in the Shed’s activities not only helps you, but also helps the community and your unique experiences and talents will possibly be helpful to other members.

Through your ideas and participation, the Shed has the opportunity to expand and offer a wider variety of activities. Metalwork, art & craft activities, computer, books, cooking and gardening are some of the areas that could be explored.There are endless possibilities for the Shed. All that is needed is for you to join and share your ideas!

Our aim is to develop and provide a wide variety of activities to suit the demands of our members. Just come and have a yarn and a cuppa if that’s all you want!

The Shed is for anyone who wants to meet and get to know other men in a relaxed, friendly, safe and productive environment. An atmosphere of old fashioned mateship where men get to know each other working ‘shoulder to shoulder’

Positive impacts

Camaraderie

"I've found a great group of mates"

Mateship is an important pillar of every Men’s Shed – first and foremost the shed is a place for men to knock about with a group of like-minded mates.

Community

“I give back to the community”

Men’s Sheds are vital community investments delivering programmes and activities that foster community spirit and contribute to building a more inclusive Australia.

Health & Wellbeing

“My health and wellbeing is better because I'm a Shedder”

Many shedders experience improved mental health outcomes. Men (and women) involved at their local Shed report increased self-esteem through participation and learning new skills; de-stigmatisation of experiencing mental health and de-stigmatisation of prevalent social issues related to mental health.

Watch — More than just a shed

The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the national service provider supporting more than 1,200 Men’s, Women’s and Community Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.

AMSA was established in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.
