    MISSING THE SHED
Noel Williams, Buderim Men’s Shed (QLD)

That nasty old virus has shut down our shed
And now we all have to stay home instead
There’s hardly a reason to get out of bed
But life will go on I suppose.

There’s work to be done round the house you can bet
There’s plenty to watch on the old TV set
The sun is still shining, the birds sing but yet
    We’re really missing our shed.

The benches are silent and covered in dust
The blade on the big saw is gathering rust
It’s painful to think of but bear it we must
Until we get back to our Shed.

We hope that we’ll soon be together once more
Back to the sounds of the planer and saw
The laughter, the banter will be like before
When that nasty old virus is over.

G’Day Ponty… Another fine poem. Well done mate.

I also like the play on words for the Forum Title. Those that never saw ‘The Dead Poets Society’ may not understand.

    Hi Dave

I’m having no end of trouble trying to navigate this web site and I have no idea how to put the musical version of this poem on it or on the Willow’s site. If you could let me have your email address I can send it to you direct. It seems we can’t send an email to AMSA Shed Online.

    Cheers
    Noel

G’day Ponky… I actually put the link under the other poem. Now, to correct that I have included the link here as well.

To all who love Ponky’ poem ‘Missing The Shed’ follow the link below to see the poem put to music. Another member of Buderims Men’s Shed, Ken O’Flaherty, has done an excellent job of composing the music and singing the song for your enjoyment.

Hi Dave. Thanks for all the trouble you’ve gone to. It makes me feel “Glad All Over”.

G’day Ponky… I am pleased you like it. I have sent a message to the forum administrator to see if they can put the video directly into this thread. That way, people can see it straight away.
I am glad you are feeling Glad All Over, that would make a great song title… Ooops wait a minute, I have already done that haven’t I?

I used to get stirred by the teachers at school about my name, but I used to get my own back and say, I do have 4 brothers and we are a singing group. That had them scratching their heads wondering if it was true or not. The only true part is, I do have 4 brothers.

Rob is going to get in touch with you to see if you have a picture of yourself you can send to him and one of your mens shed. My guess is, the picture in the video is your mens shed.

Keep up the great work Noel (Ponky)

    Hi Dave
Disappointed to hear that you’re not the “real Dave”.
I can send Rob a couple of photos but will need an email address. Their newsletter is most impressive.
The three buildings in the picture with the video comprise our new shed. It’s quite a complex. We have about 300 members but they don’t all turn up at once, thank goodness. I’m in woodwork twice a week and also exercise classes in the gym three mornings a week.

    Cheers

G’day Ponky… I have tried over the last 2 days to reply to your post. As soon as I have pressed ‘Submit’ it does not put my post here for you to read. Hopefully this one will work. If it does, I will try again with information to help you.

    Cheers Noel

G’day again Ponky… Well, that post worked, but my previous post would not load up. I will try again.

Click on the link and you will see Rob’s email address at the top of the page.

G’day Ponky… No worries mate. When we lived in England (Stafford) I remember as a lad we would spend many happy days at the seaside in Wales. Namely Rhyl, but there were other towns as well.
I look forward to reding about your poems in the next issue of their newsletter.

    Regards
    Dave

G’day Ponky… But I am the real deal. He! He! When I sent my story to Rob for inclusion in their newsletter, he sent me the link to their website and I found his email address quite easily. I am not sure if it was done this way because he didn’t want his email address on the forum.

That is quite an impressive complex you have there. Around 300 members is also impressive. We have around 80 members and growing fast. Our complex comprises of 2 buildings, one being our recently opened metal shop. We are about to make some more videos and put them on our you-tube channel. But you have already seen part of that when you watched your poem put to song video. Take the time to check out the other videos we have on there. The playlists are made from other you-tubers channels and it covers a lot of what we do at our shed.

I look forward to seeing your poem in the next CYMRU newsletter. You could also send Rob the link to the song and he may be able to include that in the newsletter.

I really like your shed complex, and around 300 members mean you must be doing something right at your shed, well done!
