About Us
The Waikerie Men’s Shed was formed in late 2012 when a large number of local men attended a community meeting.
An incorporated body was formed and initially meetings were held in the Waikerie Club.
Shortly afterward a large vacant shed on Ian Oliver Drive was secured on a temporary basis.
Some time passed and the Loxton/Waikerie Council built a new shed, to be shared in part with the greater community, but with a section solely for the use of the Men’s Shed group. The group soon outgrew even this building, and a further building was added, funded by the Waikerie Men’s Shed aided by a government grant.
The Shed provides a social and vocational outlet that enables men to be productively involved in community life.
The Shed provides resources for men to undertake their own projects and projects that are of community benefit.

Positive impacts
The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the national service provider supporting more than 1,200 Men’s, Women’s and Community Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.
AMSA was established in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.
