Media release: John Paul Young releases Men’s Shed music video
His sensational singing voice and smash hits through several generations (such as Love is in the Air and Yesterday’s Hero) have been part of Australia’s soundtrack since the seventies. Now the ever-popular John Paul Young is launching a surprise new music video.
His co-stars are in fact ‘Shedders’, members of an Australian Men’s Shed.
The number of Men’s Sheds in cities and towns all over Australia and indeed the world has exploded in the past decade. And Shedders everywhere will soon be singing and whistling this new and extremely catchy tune, written and performed by the one and only JPY in conjunction with The Jingle Joint’s Danny Marx Young, Donny Whitworth and Jake Tuffin.
The catchcry of the chorus is: “There’s something for you at the Men’s Shed”. Together with the entertaining music video, the jingle will go a long way to promoting the activities and benefits of Men’s Sheds, which are funded to prevent social isolation in older Australians.
The music video is set to bring laughter and a much-needed feelgood factor as we approach the end of a year that has surely been one of the most challenging in living memory.
Like most community facilities, Men’s Sheds have been subject to long periods of compulsory lockdown.
A tough ask for the tens of thousands of men who rely on their Shed for mateship and a sense of connection. Not to mention the love of being involved in a project they can be proud of, or learning a new skill such as making children’s toys in the lead up to Christmas.
JPY’s Men’s Shed jingle also features in a Community Service Announcement voiced by actor Michael Caton that is currently being aired on television networks around Australia.
The video was filmed at the Raymond Terrace Community Men’s Shed in New South Wales and features its Shed band.
