Living Well Expo Redland Bay | What does it take to keep you living well?

The Australian Men’s Shed Association is teaming up with Redland Bay Men’s Shed and Queensland Government as Mental Wellness Partner to ask Queenslanders; what does it take to keep you living well?

The first of five Living Well Health & Wellbeing Expos will be hosted by Redland Bay Men’s Shed on International Men’s Day, Tuesday 19 November.

The concept, based on the Wheel of Well-being developed by the South London and Maudsley Foundation (UK), will focus expo visitors on six ‘elements’ of actions people can take to proactively improve or maintain positive mental wellbeing – body, mind, spirit, people, place and planet.

“The Living Well Health & Wellbeing Expo is about showing people that improving our mental wellbeing is an active process – and that it’s actually very easy to do little things regularly that help us feel more positive,” said AMSA Executive Officer David Helmers.

It’s a natural fit for the organisation to be promoting a holistic and proactive approach to mental wellbeing.

“All of the Wheel of Well-being elements are fundamental to life at a Men’s Shed,” said Mr Helmers.

“Men’s Sheds bring men together in a way that provides an opportunity to improve health and wellbeing by simply participating, as the shed environment is an ideal platform to proactively and positively engage the mind and the body – all amongst mates.”

The Expo will include over 30 exhibitors – covering everything from Park Run to Wood Turning.

Running presentations will give visitors insight into the Wheel of Well-being and the practical activities that can easily be incorporated into day to day life to achieve improved mental wellbeing.

Presentations and interactive demonstrations including African Drumming, Yoga and Beekeeping will also feature throughout the day.

The event is free to attend and community members are welcomed, registrations are encouraged.
