SUMMARY:Wellbeing Webinar with Dr John Barletta
DESCRIPTION:What does wellbeing look like when it’s woven into everyday shed life? \nAt Maleny Men’s Shed\, it’s more than a program… it’s part of the culture. From encouraging meaningful conversations and building strong social connections to supporting members through life’s challenges\, wellbeing is embedded in the way the Shed operates. \nJoin us for the first session in our 2026 Wellbeing Webinar Series with Dr John Barletta\, Wellbeing Coordinator at Maleny Men’s Shed and Health & Wellbeing Specialist for the Queensland Men’s Shed Association. \nA retired Clinical Psychologist\, Dr Barletta has spent years helping Men’s Sheds create environments where blokes feel welcome\, connected and supported. He is the author of the Wellbeing Workbook\, developed through an Australian Government National Shed Development Program grant\, and played a key role in Maleny Men’s Shed being recognised as a finalist in the Healthy Shed\, Healthy Blokes category at the 2026 AMSA National Shed Awards. \nIn this practical\, interactive webinar\, John will share the approaches that have helped make wellbeing part of everyday life at Maleny Men’s Shed\, along with ideas that any Shed can adapt to suit its own members and community. \n📅 Wednesday 29 July\n🕚 11:00am (AEST)\n💻 Live on Zoom\n👉 Register here

SUMMARY:Men's Health Week
DESCRIPTION:This year Men’s Health Week runs from 15 -21 June 2026. Our theme this year is reviving an existing program – but it’s as valid today as ever. \nThe theme — When was your last service? – is designed to encourage men to get an annual check-up as preventative care\, with a focus on reducing avoidable illness through early intervention. \nWe’re encouraging Sheds to hold a health-related event during the week. Our Health Event Organiser’s Guide provides information and steps to organise a great event at your shed\, including tips on inviting a guest speaker\, local media and politicians. \nDownload your Men’s Health Event and let us know about what you’re planning \nMen’s Health Week 2026 – Event Organisers Guide

SUMMARY:11th AMSA National Men's Shed Gathering
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION NOW OPEN: REGISTER HERE OR FIND OUT MORE HERE \nWe’ve set our sights on sunny Brisbane for the 11th AMSA National Men’s Shed Gathering.\nThe AMSA National Men’s Shed Gathering is the Australian Men’s Shed Association’s premier event. Hosted every two years\, we bring together the national Men’s Shed community and stakeholders for learning\, development and networking. \nOur goals each year are simple\, to continue connecting Men’s & Community Sheds\, shed members and relevant stakeholders with important knowledge\, networks and information to bolster the strength and sustainability of the Men’s Shed movement. \nWe are excited to be joined by the Queensland Men’s Shed Association as co-host and our major partner Fair Dinkum Builds\, to welcome shedders to sunny Brisbane from 24 March to Thursday 26 March 2026 for the 11th AMSA National Men’s Shed Gathering. \nOur theme is centred on the philosophy of “Building Healthy Communities” – recognising the practical\, social and wellbeing benefits Men’s & Community Sheds bring to men\, their families and the wider community. Based at Royal on the Park Hotel & Suites\, our program content will cover three key streams: Shed Development\, Health & Wellbeing and Community Development. \nThe social program will see the return of our highly-regarded ‘Shed Tours’ on Day 1\, which will end with a Welcome Reception and Trade Exhibition in the evening. Day 2 will start with a Shedder’s BBQ Breakfast followed by conferencing. Day 3 will include a second day of conferencing during the day\, with the event concluding in our signature Shedder’s Dinner and National Men’s Shed Awards in the evening. \nWe encourage all sheds to support a member or two to get along to what we know will be another great national event. \nDavid Helmers\nAMSA Executive Officer & Conference Convenor

SUMMARY:Men's Health Week 2025
DESCRIPTION:International Men’s Health Week is held globally each year\, this year 9-15-June. It serves as a vital reminder of the importance of men’s health and encourages communities to support the wellbeing of men and boys. \nThis week goes beyond just physical health—it also shines a light on mental health and emotional wellbeing. It’s a time to address the unique health challenges men face in Australia and around the world\, and to promote activities and habits that can benefit their health all year long. \nWith nationwide events\, campaigns\, and discussions\, Men’s Health Week sparks awareness and encourages action to improve health outcomes for men and boys. \nThis year’s theme is See Your GP \nThis year’s theme — See Your GP— is designed to encourage timely check-ups and preventative care\, with a focus on reducing avoidable illness through early intervention. \nThe Challenge \nTwo-thirds of Australian men put off seeing a doctor when they notice a health issue\, often trying to manage it themselves or waiting until it worsens. This hesitation means missed chances for early intervention — turning small concerns into bigger\, harder-to-treat problems. \nThe Opportunity \nWe have a chance to shift the conversation and change behaviours. By empowering men to take action sooner\, we can help prevent serious health issues before they escalate \nMen’s Health Week Event Packs \nRegistrations open now – packs will be allocated on a first come\, first serve basis (15 available).
