Advance Notice for Qld AMSA Men’s Sheds

The 2019 QUEENSLAND MEN’S SHED GRANTS PROGRAMME

‘Supported by the Hand Heart Pocket 2018 Father’s Day Appeal’

Hand Heart Pocket (HHP) is an independent charity founded by the Freemasons of Queensland, with a history of charity and benevolence spanning more than 110 years.

HHP & the Australian Men’s Shed Association

The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) was the beneficiary of Hand Heart Pocket the Charity of Freemasons Queensland’s inaugural 2018 Father’s Day Appeal, which saw Masonic Lodges and Shedders unite to focus on their mental health and wellbeing. At the culmination of the Appeal, AMSA was presented with a $150,000 Significant Grant to support Men’s Shed activities as well as health and wellbeing programs in Queensland in 2019.

The 2019 Queensland Men’s Shed Grants Program
The 2019 Queensland Men’s Shed Grants Program is being delivered by AMSA and supported by Hand Heart Pocket the Charity of Freemasons Queensland. AMSA will distribute $100,000 directly into Qld Men’s Sheds via this competitive grants program.

When does it Open and Close?
Opens                         Tuesday 23 April 2019
Closes                         Friday 24th May 2019
Grants Announced  Monday 17th June 2019
Applicants will have five weeks to complete and lodge an application.

Who can apply?
Queensland Men’s Sheds who are members of the Australian Men’s Shed Association or their auspicing body on behalf of the Men’s Shed are eligible to apply. You must be a legal registered entity, such as an Association incorporated under State and Territory Incorporation legislation.

How much can I apply for?
Applicants can submit an application for a combination of requests up to $2,000

What can I apply for?
Applicants can apply for a range of items/services including:
a. Tools and Equipment– such as power and hand tools, equipment such as lathes, work benches, safety equipment
b. Fundraising– costs associated with fundraising activities or items that will help Sheds to remain viable or increase their capacity over the longer term; fundraising equipment such as Barbeques, cold storage containers, marquees, related items to undertake sausage sizzles or similar fundraising activities
c. Major community projects-materials to plan and deliver a worthy project within your community
d. Promotion– purchase of promotional material such as Shed logo shirts and/ or hats, Men’s Shed banner and printing of flyers to promote the Shed at community and fundraising activities to increase community and sponsor awareness of the Shed

In preparation for the opening of the program on 23 April, the AMSA encourages Men’s Shed Committees to discuss the program, decide on their requests and organise quotes.
